Craven Cottage Experience

Craven Cottage is a unique football ground. Located on the riverbank in the heart of London you get the feeling that Fulham is a true club of the city and a club of the people.

It is not hard to imagine how much of a hub the football ground would have been in the past and it still continues to be to this day. It had a buzz about it. You can almost hear the echos of the fans from previous seasons reverberating around the stands.

The wooden seats are a healthy reminder of the clubs past and stepping inside the ground you get a real sense of the history that is enshrined into each corner of the stadium.

However, things haven't been going too well for Fulham in recent times. The first team are certain for relegation from the Premier League with a number of games still left to play.

Last Friday night the U23 team had a chance to give the Fulham fans something to cheer about when they hosted Reading in their Premier League Two clash.

Alfie Mawson was picked to start after not playing since December due to injury and it seemed that a player with a big name like his was what was needed to lift the team.

Overall the Fulham U23 side were dominated by a very strong Reading team who won the game 3-0 to keep their chances of promotion to the top division of the Premier League Two alive.

There was a good number of fans watching the game and the overall feeling was a sense of disappointment. It seems that what was once one of the great clubs in English football is in serious decline.

There is talent at the club and the future is bright. Relegation may be what the club needs. A chance to play some of their younger players and re-brand the type of football that they want to play.

The U23 side look like a good group of players. Perhaps if they can get themselves in contention for first team selection then they can sculpt Fulhams future.
