Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker

The biggest fight of both of their careers. Undefeated records on the line, someones 0 has to go. Will Joshua have too much power or will Parker be able to out speed and out box the poster boy of British Boxing?

Yesterdays weigh in suggests that both fighters are prepared for a fight that will last for a number of rounds as Joshua weighed in at a near career lightest at 17st 4lbs 2oz. For Joshua's last fight against Carlos Takam, Joshua weighed in at 18st 4lbs and described feeling as if there were 'two new born babies strapped on my back.' (5 Live with Costello and Bunce) It is clear to see that Joshua has learnt from that fight and suggests that we will see a sharper, quicker fighter with better stamina. The fact that he isn't carrying around a load of extra weight will allow him to fight into the later rounds without fatiguing at as high a rate. AJ's team are therefore respecting the fact that Parker has never been put down and could be preparing for a long fight. I expect it to go the full 12 rounds.

Joseph Parker has never had a fight of this scale before and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to walking out in front of around 80,000 people this evening. Throughout this week he has been looking calm, relaxed and confident so I expect that he will be able to use the crowd to his advantage, using the adrenaline to fuel him through the fight. Parker also weighed in at a lower weight than his last fight, coming in at 16st 12lbs. I hope that this means that he is looking to box Joshua as in an out and out brawl there will only be one winner. Many people are underestimating Parker and I have been shocked to see that there have been many talks about making fights after this one. Although I doubt Joshua himself is looking past Parker, having members of your team look to the future must put a lot of pressure on him.

I expect the fight to go 12 rounds and it really depends on the approach that Parker brings to the fight to who the winner will be, as if he tries to out power Joshua then I can't see him winning but somebody with a real boxing brain is able to beat AJ. Will it be Parkers night?

The undercard is stacked full of action and I am really looking forward to seeing the Price vs Povetkin. I think that Price might have enough in him to pull it out of the bag. He has a clear height and reach advantage and as it is his last chance. He knows this and I expect him to come out all guns blazing.
Make sure you check out my post fight analysis which will be published on Sunday. Enjoy the night of boxing and let me know who you think is going to win.
