Bath's Super Six in England Squad

Anthony Watson, Johnathan Joseph, Charlie Ewels, Sam Underhill, Tom Dunn and Zach Mercer have all been included in the England squad for the Autumn Internationals.

Bath are obviously doing something right. Six players included in the England squad and a further two being selected for the Wales squad. This is a real encouragement for Bath as the set up that is in place at the rec is creating international level talent. Having eight players called up for international duty is a double edged sword. It means that some of Bath's best players will not be available for selection. However, as the Anglo Welsh cup starts next week, not many season defining games will be missed.

Once again Rokoduguni has been left out and after this it is fairly certain that Rocco's international dreams have been shattered. A player with his attacking ability and skill would certainly be an attacking threat at international level. However, the wings are a position of such strength in England at the moment with the likes of Johnny May, Elliot Daly, Marland Yarde, Anthony Watson, Denny Solomona and the injured Jack Nowell. Competition is fierce. If Rocco can add more of an offloading element to his game and improve his defence then he will truly be the best winger in England. Christian Wade is another winger who has yet again missed out on playing for England despite his attacking skill.

I was very pleased for Rhys Priestland as he was called up to the Wales squad again. He has really been given the opportunity to shine and has put in some solid consistent performances keeping Burns out of the 10 jersey. Burns' ban finishes next week and it means that he is likely to start for Bath whilst Priestland is away. Josh Lewis may start some of the Anglo Welsh games giving him some more match experience.
