Anthony Joshua vs Carlos Takam

Anthony Joshua will face Carlos Takam in Cardiff this weekend for the WBA and IBF Heavyweight titles.

Saturday the 28th is going to be a night to remember with 75,000 people watching the heavyweight clash. Anthony Joshua vs Carlos Takam. Joshua was meant to be fighting the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev, but a shoulder injury, which will require surgery, meant that Takam stepped in as a replacement with 12 days notice.

When speaking to Sky, many boxing experts have rated Takam as a very solid fighter who offers a totally different challenge to Pulev. Tony Bellew has said that 'Joshua will be punching down, which can be a problem because if you're doing that you can leave your chin susceptible to big shots over the top.' Many experts including Carl Froch believe that 'this could be a tougher fight than Pulev' for Joshua. Despite this Joshua is still likely to get the knockout victory which will lead him to a unification fight with Deontay Wilder for the WBC title.

Standing at 6ft 1 Takam is a very small heavyweight and this is something which could play into his favour. When the fight with Pulev was announced, Eddie Hearn has asked Takam to stay in shape just in case anything happened. This has meant that Takam has been preparing for the style of Anthony Joshua for longer that Joshua has had the chance to study Takam. He will come into the fight with a high work rate and looking to throw hooks over the top to hit Joshua's exposed chin. From a fans point of view this will be a much more entertaining fight that the Pulev one was going to be. The danger for Takam will be if his high work rate will actually lead to him getting hit by a shot as he comes forward.

I am really looking forward to the fight. The undercard looks good as well with Katie Taylor challenging for her first World Title. Dillian Whyte is also on the card and hopefully Dave Allen if his fight isn't cancelled.
