Burns VS Priestland (Ford not missed)

It is an exciting time to be a Bath fan. Two great wins against Leicester away at Welford Road  and a nail-biting win over European Champions Saracens at the Rec. This electric start to the season has come as a surprise to many. Bath are really struggling in the front row department with countless injuries. Anthony Watson walked off the pitch with what looked like a shoulder injury. Due to the fact that Bath had used all of their substitutes, with an injury to Chris Cook early on, it meant that both games this season have been finished by Bath with less than 15 men on the pitch. This is such an excitement for Bath fans due to the fact that the team has shown such impenetrable defence which is unusual for teams this early on in the season. Bath's fitness is promising but the number of injuries the side is facing is not. It is hard to picture this talented Bath side keeping up with this form due to the fact that the players have had two incredibly hard games and also the fact that the squad is getting smaller. Another thing which is exciting is that there is a real healthy competition between Rhys Priestland and Freddie Burns. I think that Priestland has seen the opportunity of George Ford leaving the club for him to put a real stamp on the 10 shirt. Priestland had a great game against Saracens, with two drop goals and great leadership throughout the game. Burns came on and it was clear that he wanted to make a statement. He smashed Owen Farrell in defence, which is something that would never have been seen last season with George Ford playing at 10. Freddie Burns seems to be a very bulky 10 and I am very excited to see the way he will fit into the Bath team. I believe that Bath have not lost anything in the switch with Burns and Ford. In fact, I believe that Bath have been re-energized and I expect great things from Bath this season.
