The press conferences for the biggest sporting event of this decade have started. The first press conference yesterday in Los Angeles was one of excitement. Today the conference is being held in Toronto in Canada. These conferences are being held to promote the mega fight which is being held on August the 26th. The pound for pound king of boxing faces the confident Irish MMA fighter, Conor McGregor. Yesterdays conference and the interviews afterwards were evidence of Conor's confidence and the self belief that he has in himself to beat Floyd Mayweather. Conor said that he would 'Knock Mayweather out in 4 rounds.' McGregor is known for predicting the results of his fights. In his featherweight fight with Jose Aldo McGregor is seen practising before the fight the exact move that knocked his opponent out in 13 seconds. McGregor is a force to be reckoned with. His suits pin stripes had a message for Floyd and only a man who truly believes he can win would act the way that Conor is acting. Conor is dangerous. I hope he does knock Mayweather out and shock the world of boxing. Mayweather has said that he will only fight if 10 ounce gloves are used. They can not be made in Mexico and they can not be made from horse hair. Mayweather has often made a big deal out of the type of boxing glove that is used. In the build up to the Marcos Maidana fight, Mayweather nearly called the fight off due to an issue with the type of glove that was being used. It seems that Floyd has to have everything setup perfectly else he will cry like a baby. Many people have expressed an opinion that Conor McGregor does not have the endurance to go the distance in this fight. They saw Conors fight with Nate Diaz when Conor was fighting at 170lbs. It is true that in this fight Conor looked exhausted by the end of the fight but at 154lb I do not believe that Conor will have a fitness issue. It is also worth remembering that MMA could be viewed as being more physically demanding due to the increase in disciplines that the sport adopts. Fitness will not be an issue. Mayweather is not going to have an easy night on the 26th of August. Conor has a solid chin and is willing to take a few punches in order to land a few. Mayweather will have to be at his defensive best and McGregor will have to hit Mayweather clean and knock him out. He will not win on points. Boxing judges are not going to score the fight in Conor’s favor as they will want to maintain the respect of the sport. Mayweather has also had a history of having referees and judges on his side. Will this be another example of this? To avoid that McGregor has to knock Mayweather out. Mayweather will beat McGregor on points everyday. This is going to be a mega fight. Will there be a rematch in the cage?
Good.
